About the role…

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team of compound operatives, moving vehicles around the site: mainly this will be from the area at the end of the Production line into the Vehicle Despatch Compound but also within the storage and despatch compounds. Movement of vehicles around site using handheld scanners to ensure vehicles are located in the system; interpreting information on scanners to ensure correct vehicles are moved and that each vehicle is parked in the correct location. Vehicle inspection. Parking of vehicles in accordance with strict quality procedures.

Prioritise workload and liaise with admin, carrier representatives, leading hands, supervisors and manager where necessary. Take a lead on training both BCA and agency staff and cover roles at the end of the production line when required.

Role Accountabilities:

Duties will include but not be limited to;



Carry out vehicle movements reaching vehicles on foot or in a team minibus where appropriate; drive team bus if required.



Ensure vehicles are parked as in full compliance with customer requirements



Inspection of vehicles on handover and prior to movement



Responsible for own safety and that of others around you



Proper usage and care of company equipment such as tools, scanner equipment, yard vehicles, and reporting of any defects.



Take part in team briefings; Lead team briefings if required.



Conduct weekly Layered Audits



Act as main liaison between office: both BCA Vehicle Services staff and carrier representatives



Work prioritisation to ensure best use of the team’s time, gate is kept clear and any movements required are completed in a timely manner. Raise any issues affecting teams ability to perform job.



Stand in for some tasks normally carried out by supervisor during absence where required.



Any other tasks as requested by supervisors, management, and admin team where appropriate. This may include changing wheels, end of line and VSC Return inspection and fuel fill once trained.



5S cleaning duties and overseeing completion of those of whole team



Attend training as required on or off site



Flexibility in terms of working on rotating shifts and covering overtime.


Who you are….


No specific educational requirements, though GCSE level or equivalent preferred.



Good numerical skills would be an advantage



Some basic knowledge of motor vehicle operations would also be helpful.



Proactive with a positive attitude.



Able to demonstrate good communication skills



Ability to both lead a team and work independently.



Experience of leading a team advantageous.
Full UK Driving Licence is essential
