Summary

Quality Technician

Job Description: We are seeking a experienced Quality Technician who will play a critical role in ensuring that materials, components, and finished products meet applicable standards and procedures. You will assist the inspection team and quality engineers throughout the assembly, inspection, and testing stages of manufacturing (before, in-process, and final). Additionally, you will focus on calibrating measuring equipment, supporting the first article inspection process, conducting internal audits, and solving practical problems to improve processes and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  2. Conduct product and process audits.
  3. Support quality control activities such as part inspection, fault identification, and stock sorting.
  4. Assist in new product introductions, including NPI gate reviews and managing NPI stock.
  5. Facilitate continuous improvement (CI), new product introduction (NPI), and engineering change request (ECR) activities.

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • NVQ/HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • ISO 9001 or AS9100 internal auditor certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use manual measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, calipers, gauges).
  • Strong work ethic, effective time management, and good organisational skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Basic understanding of ISO standards (e.g., 9001 and/or AS9100).
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Desirable: Experience in high value, low volume manufacturing settings and ability to complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
