Payroll Officer

37.5 hours, Remote working

Your Role Responsibilities:
• Administer and process end-to-end monthly payroll for 300+ employees.
• Calculate and process statutory deductions, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
• Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all changes (starters, leavers, changes in employment status, changes in role,
etc.) are updated promptly.
• Liaise with the rota administrators to manage and reconcile time and attendance records.
• Upload payments to the bank each month once payroll is finalised.
• Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, tax laws and regulations.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports to relevant authorities
• Process employee benefits, including pension contributions, salary sacrifice pension scheme, employee loans and other benefits.
• Respond to employee enquiries regarding payroll matters.
• Investigate and resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues.
• Generate and analyse payroll reports for Management KPI information.
• Complete payroll year end transactions and assist in the audit process.

• Assist with budget preparation tasks and support the annual pay review process.
• Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination of payroll processes.
• Identify, record, and implement continuous process improvements.
• Managing P11D’s, Annual Returns, Gender Pay Gap Reporting, etc.
• Processing P60s, P45s, etc.


About You:
• Proven experience in payroll and knowledge of UK payroll regulations and taxation.
• Confident in Microsoft office packages especially Excel and ideally Sage payroll.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Knowledge & experience of the health & social care sector desirable.
• Due to timescales of payroll process flexibility is needed in the hours worked to meet payment deadlines.
