Summary

37.5 Hours per week. Tuesday - Saturday 6am - 2pm.

Purpose of the post:

Working within a busy, fast paced laboratory that performs microbiological testing on a high volume of water samples. You will be required to receive the samples into the laboratory and register them within the Laboratory Electronic Management System and make the samples available for testing for the Laboratory. To share the vision of providing the best possible quality to ensure each sample is processed with precision and accuracy.

Main Duties:

Receipt, organisation and registration of samples.
Analysis of samples as required following training.
Prioritisation and time management of samples to maintain a continuous flow of samples in stability.
Ensure samples received are handled in accordance with documented procedures, including attention to temperature control, storage and maintenance of sample integrity.
Identify any anomalies and deviated samples and apply deviating comments as required.
E-mail clients with any sample queries in a professional manner.
Undertake good housekeeping, maintaining a tidy work environment and stock management.
Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
Analysis of samples as required following training.
Work well with others and display good teamwork and work to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
Knowledge of Laboratory Quality System in order to comply with the policies, procedures and associated documents.
Attention to detail and maintaining quality records, and other quality related tasks as required.
To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
