Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
Overview

Join our dynamic Pre-Operations Function as an Operational Capability Programme Manager, reporting directly to the Head of Pre-Operations. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future operational capability for Sizewell C (SZC), ensuring safe and reliable operations in line with all licences, permits, and regulatory requirements. You will work from any of our offices in Gloucester, Bristol, London, or Leiston, with regular travel to other SZC and Hinkley Point C (HPC) sites.
Key Responsibilities:



- Strategic Development: Formulate and deliver the Operational Capability Strategy, aligning with the broader Pre-Operations strategy and the evolving needs of the SZC project.
- Programme Leadership: Lead a capable team, and work with project stakeholders, to execute the strategy, maintaining high standards of nuclear safety, and integrating learning from HPC.
- Collaboration and Improvement: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including project delivery programmes, HPC, SZB, and regulatory bodies, to drive improvements and synergies.
- Operational Preparation: Define the future operating model and operational culture for SZC, ensuring a seamless transition to operational readiness.

Principal Accountabilities:



- Own the long-term Operations staffing strategy and ensure the recruitment, competence and training approach is integrated across the broader business, meeting the capability requirements of the organisation and aligning with regulatory and statutory needs.
- Act as the Intelligent Customer for work done by the Nuclear Skills Alliance (NSA).
- Develop a robust, integrated competency framework and oversee delivery of Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) compliant training.
- Oversee the creation of training facilities, including simulators and classrooms.
- Manage the Pre-Operations budget, and oversee the schedule, to ensure programme activities are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget.

Essential Skills & Experience:



- Degree in engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of training, people strategy development, and organisational design.
- Experience and proven agility in a technically complex, dynamic environment with a focus on safety, security, and environmental responsibility.
- Proven leadership skills, including project management and change management.
- Proven Influencing and Collaboration skills in a complex, fast-moving project environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Desirable:



- Experience with HPC or other EPR projects.
- Understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and associated legislation.
- Chartered status and proficiency in French are advantageous.
