Felicity’s Café at Quex is a family run café situated within the beautiful Quex Park estate, opposite the Powell Cotton Museum.

A warm and welcoming café offers breakfast, lunch, dessert and a delicious afternoon tea menu. Make sure you try one of our delicious home-made cakes, all of which are baked freshly onsite.

Job description
Felicity’s Café at Quex, a wedding and events venue, Weddings & Events at Quex and a newly launched outside catering business, Rose & Mae Events.

We are looking for an apprentice chef to work predominantly in the café kitchen but also to work alongside our Head Chef in the main catering kitchen working on our wedding and events and baking.

This is a full-time position with great development possibilities for the right individual who is looking for a career not just a job.



Duties to include:

Café breakfast and lunch service.
Food preparation for Café and Events.
Simple baking (Scones, cakes)
Labelling (Learning food labelling system)
Cleaning down food stations.
Maintain hygiene levels and safety regulations in the kitchen to help to guarantee the safety of your entire team and visitors.
To become an apprentice, you must:

Be 16 years or over.

Not already be in full-time education.

You can start an apprenticeship whether you’re starting your career, want a change. You can have a previous qualification like a degree and still start an apprenticeship.

As an apprentice you’ll:

Have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace.

Learn and train for a specific job.

Get paid and receive holiday leave.

Get hands-on experience in a real job.

Study for at least 20% of your working hours.

Complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship.

Skills required
•Enthusiastic and have a keen interest in food and the hospitality industry
•Able to keep calm when working under pressure – the kitchen is a hot and hectic place during service periods.
•Able to understand and follow instructions.
•Good common sense and understanding of basic health and safety requirements – for example washing hands, clearing spills (more will be taught throughout the induction and on-going throughout the apprenticeship but a basis understanding from the outset is very important)
