Summary

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College.

In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

The bar's opening times are Monday 19.30 - 23.00 and Tuesday - Sunday 20.00 - 23.00.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

The Construction Work Based Learning Department is part of WCG Apprenticeships. The department provides training and assessment for apprenticeships & work based assessments for Product Design and Development, Manufacturing and Mechatronics at Rugby and Trident campus. The post holder will join the existing Construction team and be responsible to the Lead Work Based Learning Manager and Head of Department for the area.

The post holder will be a member of the Work based Learning Construction Department and join the existing work based delivery team.

JOB PURPOSE

✓ To ensure that Warwickshire College’s systems and contractual requirements are achieved by creating contracts for employers using the Levy and DAS systems as well as our own internal systems. Collating all information by liaising with employers and internal stakeholders to identify contract requirements.
✓ Support the Apprentice through the EPA process.
✓ Complete apprentice reviews in a timely manner and ensure feedback/actions are fully communicated to all relevant parties.
✓ Conduct Employer Premises Compliance visits and subsequent monitoring visits to ensure all matters in relation to Health and Safety and insurance are in place and the associated documentation and recording processes are adhered to.
✓ Work closely with the relevant curriculum team/s to monitor apprentice progress against their assessment plan and milestones.

✓ To support the Head of Work Based Learning through a cycle of continual quality improvement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

✓ Assist, guide and support employers to access appropriate recruitment options and funding streams for their respective training needs, where appropriate; including the Apprenticeship Service, Recruit an Apprentice Service.
✓ Work with relevant parties to ensure students are placed in a safe, suitable, and healthy environment with appropriate access to work based training.
✓ Work with support departments and Head of WBL to ensure that all existing and new programmes, within the vocational area are marketed and promoted in the best interests of the College.
✓ Represents the department in promotional activities and provide students statistics and report where needed for Senior Management.
✓ Liaise with all parties to ensure that each candidate has the range of opportunities required for their competence based assessments throughout their programme.
✓ To improve the quality of provision including involvement with internal and external verification procedures, annual review, self-assessment, Quality Improvement Plans and provision of data as necessary.
✓ Carry out formal progress reviews in a timely manner with Apprentices and their employers.
✓ Maintain and update all relevant documentation to a high standard in accordance with the requirements of the College, Awarding organisations, Funding Rules and relevant external agencies.

In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training.

OFFERS OF WORK

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS

✓ GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification, or willingness to work towards once in post.
✓ Experiencing of mentoring or coaching.
✓ Experience of dealing with customers is essential.
✓ Experience of working with students, apprentices or young people.
✓ A willingness to learn and undergo training with regards to apprenticeships within Construction.
✓ Significant administrative experience with experience of using a range of IT packages.
✓ A driving license free of major endorsements and/or the ability to travel within the College’s recruitment area.

DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS

✓ Vocational experience of working in industry.
✓ Experience of working with Awarding Bodies and knowledge of their systems and paperwork.
✓ Experience of reviewing learners.
✓ Experience of working with outside agencies and organisations.
