About you:

Are you a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist specialising in Paediatric patients. We have an opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on their Auditory Implant Services to provide a specialised clinical / counselling psychology service to deaf patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a specialist psychology service to children and young people who are either undergoing an assessment to see if they might benefit from a Cochlear Implant/s, or who have already had their Cochlear Implant surgery.
  • Consult and advise on patient's psychological care to the wider multi-disciplinary team, as well as liaison with external agencies is also an important aspect of the work.
  • Formulate, select and implement evidence based psychological interventions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the problem and drawing upon a range of therapeutic models.
  • Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups - adjusting and refining psychological formulations, drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • Provide specialist psychological advice guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation and treatment plan.
  • Undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual patients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
  • Skilfully communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and intervention with patients and their families, as well as with the wider multi-disciplinary team to help develop psychologically informed care.

Essential Qualifications:

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior clinical psychologist with:

  • DClinPsych or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Clinical / Counselling Psychology.
  • Membership of relevant professional body. BPS or ACP.
  • Registered with the Health and care Professions Council
  • Knowledge and experience of more than one therapeutic intervention
  • Experience in working in the field of disability/health issues
  • Commitment to diversity and equality
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking research and considering clinical applications

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working with deaf patients/clients Knowledge of cochlear implants
  • British Sign Language level 1 or willingness to learn
