We have an opportunity for an experienced band 7 pharmacist to spend some time developing their advanced practice portfolio in the leadership and management and education domains. We are looking for someone to help develop our new 6 to 7 rotational programme and support our pharmacists during the trial period. This will be for a 0.5WTE for a fixed term of 8 months and we are willing to support someone on a secondment to this role.

UHS has one of the largest pharmacy departments in the country with over 300 staff and are nationally recognised for their innovation. The pharmacist team is made up of over 100 pharmacists: including over 50 qualified independent pharmacist prescribers and five consultant pharmacists and leading national experts. Our band 7 clinical rotational pharmacists spend 9 months in each rotation gaining clinical experience and skills to support their development in Leadership and Management, Education and Research. We are committed to developing new rotations and opportunities to allow you to move to the next stage of your career. In this role you would have a daily ward commitment but be supporting our team in their development as well as developing your own skills.

All pharmacists are expected to participate in extended hours including late nights and weekend dispensary support on a rotational basis.

If you have the enthusiasm and are committed to team working with good communication skills, we can provide additional training and development to support you. We have a strong commitment to developing pharmacist independent prescribers and to continuing professional development and training. The post-holder will be encouraged to work towards the new RPS core Advanced Practice Curriculum and have the opportunity to undertake further study in either clinical or management qualifications. We are also keen to support pharmacists developing as researchers and can offer support via the Southampton Pharmacy Research Centre.

You will have the opportunity for development as you take part in our management rotation. In conjunction with a clinical ward commitment you will support the Lead Pharmacist Operation and Supply Services and the Rotational Clinical Pharmacist Development lead to your develop management and leadership skills and develop evidence for these competencies in the advanced practice portfolio. In addition to this you will be supporting our new 6 to 7 progressive posts on the rotation and helping with the development of our new programme

and your clinical ward commitment would be in one of these areas.

In all our rotations you will be expected to provide some support to the trainee pharmacists. There mayalso be the opportunity to get involved with formulary applications and other budgetary matters. You will also have the opportunity to provide teaching to various health professionals, undertake audit work and develop guidelines.
