Summary

KEY DUTIES To have full working knowledge and assist the Senior Photographer in the delivery of a complete range of non-routine photographic procedures requiring skill, experience and innovation. Assist in the delivery of the service which performs clinical, and research based photographic duties for the Trust using digital photographic equipment in locations throughout the Trust including Mortuary, Theatres, Ophthalmology, Pathology Laboratories, Accident and Emergency Department, Wards, Clinics and all other patient areas. Produce high quality clinical photography and detailed records of associated photographic sessions. Manage own workload on a day-to-day basis to meet the demands of the service. Make valued judgements on the correct photographs to take in any situation, taking into account customer requirements and a wide range of technical, legal and social issues. Comply with the requirement that all technical work is completed to a high standard for the Trust. Demonstrate professional and patient management skills in the studio, clinic, wards and theatres involving tact and diplomacy to explain the need for clinical use. Actively participate in the organisation of the department budget and assist in making effective contributions regarding income generation and participate in cost improvement/reduction schemes. Perform public relations, medical and general photographic duties for or on behalf of Trust departments outside Trust premises and normal working departmental working hours, by joint agreement. To be available outside normal working hours for hospital response to major incidents to participate in the day-to-day activities of the department on a technical, clinical and organisational basis and to ensure the smooth running of the department in the absence of the Senior Medical Photographer. HEALTH & SAFETY Liaise with the Senior Medical Photographer in ensuring that all staff are conversant with and comply with the terms and conditions of the Health and Safety at Work Act and to be actively involved in planning training sessions within the department including COSHH assessments and manual handling, monitor and ensure compliance. Follow the Trusts Risk Management Strategy and perform general Risk assessments as necessary, monitor and ensure compliance. Reporting on any incidents/accidents and assist on any investigations. Understand and participate in the duties of the departmental Fire warden and Environmental officer. Attend regular Health and safety staff meetings. Participate in the observations for the Health and Safety performances of the department. Develop and support implementation of Clinical Governance.
