Summary
We are seeking caring and empathetic individuals to play a key role in our boarding houses as residential matrons.
We have full time and part time positions available, and the successful candidates’ main responsibility will be the pastoral care of the pupils. This includes the pupil’s mental, physical and emotional well-being, as well as their participation in school and house life.
A high level of skill and knowledge is required to assist in the management of child protection and safeguarding issues, in handling confidential personal and medical information, and in the managing of difficult situations.
Appropriate training is provided to ensure Matrons remain up to date with best practice and have opportunities for continued professional development.
Matrons are expected to be a visible presence who spend significant amounts of time moving around the boarding house and working with the pupils and boarding house team to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained. In addition, Matrons have a significant housekeeping and administrative role to ensure the house runs smoothly and is well presented.
Previous experience is not essential. The successful candidates will however need the ability to offer a high level of pastoral care and empathy for, and understanding of, young people.
Strong listening skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and a commitment to safeguarding children and young people are equally important.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 29th September 2024. We reserve the right to interview before the official closing date – early applications are therefore encouraged.
St Edward’s does not accept applications from recruitment agencies.
St Edward’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we aim to create and maintain a safe environment for our pupils, where they feel respected and supported.
