Summary
Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints to determine specifications and to calculate the materials required; Prepare surfaces prior to beginning work; Lay bricks, blocks, and other types of building components to construct or repair walls, arches, chimneys, fireplaces, and other structures; Use various tools and techniques to cut, shape, and fit materials according to
specifications; Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard with attention to detail and in compliance with all relevant building codes; Mix mortar and plaster to desired consistency or direct mixing procedures; Measure distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction
sites; Monitor alignment and positioning of structures during construction to ensure adherence to building plans and safety; Conduct repairs and maintenance duties as necessary.
