Summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual interested in working within a hospital pharmacy setting. You will gain experience in ward-based working and the pharmacy dispensary whilst working towards a pharmacy qualification.

Applications are welcome from those who have already completed a level 2 pharmacy qualification. If you already have the required qualifications and skills then you will start the role as a band 3.

Previous pharmacy experience would be an advantage, however full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised, have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be able to adapt to changing demands, be committed to providing a high quality patient focused service and be someone who is proactive.

Core service hours are Monday to Friday 08:45 – 17:15 and you will contribute to the weekend rota (roughly 1 in 8) and bank holiday rota (roughly 1 per year).

Candidates must have GCSEs in Maths & English at grade C or above or an equivalent qualification and meet the essential criteria of the job specification.

The role of the successful candidate will include:
• Working closely with the ward based Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists
• Supporting the safe and secure storage of medicines on the wards
• Assessing patients own medication to check it’s suitability for use
• Maintaining medication supplies for inpatients on allocated wards by completing regular locker checks
• Ensuring efficient use of medicines by facilitating the safe transfer of medication around the hospital
• Prioritising and facilitating discharges
• Dispensing inpatient and discharge prescriptions
