Summary


The over-riding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

The Speciality Doctor will be expected to provide middle grade (registrar) clinical cover to the inpatients in a GIM ward and have the option to participate in the diabetes and endocrinology clinic working under the supervision by the consultants and will also be invited to attend MDT meetings e.g. diabetic foot, diabetes ante natal, pituitary, endocrinology.

We would also welcome Fixed Term Specialty Doctor applications.
• Provision of a service to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
• Provision of clinical cover on a GIM ward.
• Option to participate in diabetes and endocrinology clinics.
• The post holder is expected to contribute towards the teaching and training of medical students.
• Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
• Responsibilities for carrying out teaching duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
• Participating in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD – CPD is provided in job plans and attendance at audit and other governance meetings is mandatory.
• The post holder must at all times carry out his/her duties with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

• All employees have an individual responsibility to have knowledge of and employ the basic principles of infection control practice and to ensure adherence to the requirements in the Infection Control Manual
