Summary

We are recruiting Caretakers at Caerphilly County Borough Council.



Location: Machen Community Centre



Position 1
Working hours: 8 hours per week (As directed by the service)
Contract Type: Part Time, Fixed Term until 1st September 2025



Position 2
Contract Type: Casual / Relief


This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Cleaning Services.

We pay an attractive salary of £12 per hour – Real Living Wage, and offer access to training and development opportunities. Caerphilly County Borough Council is committed to paying the real Living Wage. The advertised salary for this post therefore includes a pay supplement.



The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the role of caretaker / cleaner at the site whilst the successful candidate for the relief post of caretaker / cleaner will need to provide cover for sickness and leave.



There will be a need for evening and particularly weekend work including late night lock ups. It is therefore essential that the post holder can access the centre quickly and if necessary, several times per day.



The post requires a good knowledge of health and safety, safe cleaning methods and the use of mechanical cleaning appliances.



The job entails significant manual handling in preparing the venue for use by user groups. In post training can be provided.


For the role, we ask that you have:

The ability to work alone and unsupervised.
An awareness of the importance of health and safety requirements particularly cleanliness and hygiene.
Experience in general caretaking and cleaning duties.
