More detail about the role: Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded Stroke Catalyst Funding by NHSE to test a new psychology workforce model that interfaces with the Stroke Association and IAPT services across the Northern and Eastern Devon Stroke Pathways. This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing care to patients who have had a stroke and their families. As an assistant psychologist linked to the community stroke services, you will support the work of practitioner psychologists who carry out specialist psychological and neuropsychological assessment and intervention to patients and families. The role will include supporting a range of functions including psychological assessments, developing formulations, delivering individual therapeutic sessions, and assessing the need for group interventions. You will contribute to the psychological care of patients and support the overall evaluation of the service including administration of outcome measures, research and service development. This role requires one post-holder to be based at the North Devon District Hospital and another post-holder at Heavitree Hospital, Exeter. The post will be fully supported and supervised by Specialist Practitioner Psychologists. Additional professional links will be facilitated into the Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology Services network that provides input to the Northern and Eastern Devon region. Applicants should ideally have some experience of working in clinical services or in other sectors that support people with neurological or long term health conditions. The post would be of interest to applicants who wish to gain further experience in progressing towards post-graduate Practitioner Psychology training. Innovation is central to the stroke and neuro-rehabilitation services at the Royal Devon, demonstrated by the implementation of several new initiatives and the development of non-traditional roles in recent years including a Research and Innovation Lead, Consultant AHPs, ACP and FCP roles. This Catalyst pilot project is a further example of innovation that will address the psychological needs of stroke survivors and their families alongside the existing multi-disciplinary teams to maximise clinical outcomes and secure cost-savings in overall service delivery. Interview Date: Thursday 26th September 2024 Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2024-5 rates, inclusive of a 5.5% pay award implemented from October 2024. If you join before this date, the pay award will be backdated to April 2024 or your start date, whichever is later.
