This is a term-time post and the salary will be pro rata to the number of hours worked.

This post is fixed term until 26/06/2025.

As part of our early years central leadership team we are looking to appoint an Education Support Officer within the early years service.

The successful candidate will support the Senior Education Officer in the delivery of the strategic vision, values and aims for the service to ensure successful delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective Early Learning & Childcare Service.

West Dunbartonshire Council’s central early years team support improvement at our Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) and Funded ELC Providers. The successful candidate will work within a central team of officers to deliver the strategic vision, values and aims to ensure successful delivery of high quality outcomes through play pedagogy approaches at early level and 0-3 years. As a member of the Early Years Central Team of Education Support Officers, the post holder will take direction from the Senior Education Officer responsible for ELC to support, develop and ensure high quality at our ELC.

We are looking for a candidate with the ability to work as part of a team; proven experience of leading and managing at early level is essential. Applicants must have experience of and be capable of modelling the highest standards of ELC leadership. Knowledge and experience of implementing Curriculum for Excellence at early level is essential and the National Guidance Realising the Ambition: Being Me.

The candidate should be enthusiastic and committed to sustaining ELC improvement and providing high quality learning and teaching, in line with the key council priorities of inclusion and of raising the aspirations, achievement and attainment for all children.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
