What you'll be doing

As a Network Planner, you will play a key role in the Transport Planning Team, responsible for daily and weekly outbound network planning and trunking to our Service Centres. This is a unique opportunity to influence and shape our planning processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in our operations. In addition to these duties, you will be responsible for:

  • Plan trunk capacity to effectively move outbound volume from Sort to Service Centres.
  • Review and adjust trailer fills based on seasonal and volume changes to maximise efficiency.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to understand the impact of forecast changes on trunk capacity.
  • Minimise yard congestion while ensuring timely departures and arrivals.
  • Utilise transport management systems (GTS, ESP, Microlise, C3, and others) to optimise planning.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive continuous improvement within the transport network.
  • Manage live transport situations in real-time, ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Prepare regular routing plans and adjust for seasonal changes and holidays.

What you need to show us

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in transport planning operations.
  • Ability to work independently, as the role involves lone working.
  • Advanced knowledge of transport management systems and route optimisation.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of drivers' hours and working time regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with all levels, including Directors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Desirable Experience:
  • Familiarity with systems such as GTS, ESP, Service Now, C3, and Microlise.
  • Experience with Paragon Planning is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel, including macros.
  • Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset.
