Summary
Little Diamonds Nursery is the largest single site nursery on the Isle of Man. We have space for 250 children, are registered for 154 children, and currently care for between 80-110 children on a daily basis, ensuring there is plenty of space available to learn and play in a fun environment.
We provide flexible childcare solutions for parents and offer high standards of care for children between the ages of 9 months and 11 years. We are a well-established nursery based in Douglas, and in January 2025 we will celebrate our 10th birthday.
We are seeking a Nursery Deputy Manager to join us. You will be working in a great team and will become a key part of the nursery’s internal structure with the opportunity to strengthen both your leadership and management skills. You will support the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery and uphold and thoroughly embed the outstanding standards we are striving for. This includes sharing and supporting the vision of the Manager and Director’s views of how the nursery should be run.
You will be confident in your ability to make decisions and the ability to lead when the Manager is absent. You will also be adept in working out nursery rotas, suitable staff deployment and handling employee queries.
You should be hardworking, pro-active and lead by example. You will have great ideas and be able to work well as part of a team. Your can-do attitude will motivate and inspire your team to reach their full potential. You will develop open and positive working relationships your team, whilst supporting, supervising, training, and appraising them to ensure delivery of high-quality childcare practice.
You will support the Nursery Manager to identify training needs; develop training plans and evaluate the training undertaken by staff. You will have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS, nursery policies and procedures.
You will inspire children to be happy, smart, and healthy and to thrive as individuals. You will ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
You will be aware and flexible to the realities of childcare! This could include jumping into the kitchen in times of sickness, contacting contractors for maintenance issues, being a first-aider, a tech wizard, a shoulder to cry on or arranging team events - no two days are ever the same! But we can assure you that the team around you will make every challenge a pleasant and supportive experience.
You must have a genuine love of childcare and be happy to jump into ratio when needed. As a competent Deputy Manager, you will use these opportunities to observe practice in the rooms and build strong relationships with your team.
In return, we can offer fantastic benefits such as:
Starting salary of £30,000-£32,000 subject to experience
Attendance Related Awards- ongoing bonuses added to your pay for long service and attendance.
Ability to book annual leave up to 15 months in advance - for peace of mind and access to cheaper travel.
Huge commitment to training
Welcoming and supportive management structure
Relocation assistance may be available
To join us, you need a minimum Level 3 in Childcare, at least one year’s experience in a senior role, and ideally up-to-date Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid training.
This is a challenging role, with an opportunity to play a fundamental part in the continued and sustained growth of our nursery; this is an excellent opportunity for a professional and driven individual to join a tight knit team within an expanding business which is able to offer fantastic career progression opportunities.
We look forward to receiving your application!
