Summary

This a Fixed Term 3 day a week post is primarily to support the Certificate in Health Care Studies, but the role will include other duties to support other professional programmes within the school. The part time, Certificate in Health Care Studies, is situated in the School of Health and Social Care in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science (FMHLS). This programme is designed for Health Care Support Workers (HCSWs) who are working in nursing environments. It is a composite programme which comprises of theory and practice learning. Close integration between the students and the faculty is a priority and there will be regular teaching at our St. David’s Park campus in Carmarthen alongside learning in the students own clinical area.

The Certificate in Health Care Studies has been designed for Health Care Support Workers to complete a recognised formal level four qualification in keeping with the current Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) strategy ‘Developing Excellence in Healthcare An NHS Wales Skills and Career Framework for Healthcare Support Workers supporting Nursing and the Allied Health Professions. The programme has a strong focus on self-development, self-awareness and developing your nursing skills and you will gain detailed knowledge and insight of key aspects within nursing

The successful candidate will make a substantive contribution to the teaching of the certificate in health care studies within the Department, as well as a contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision across the school.

In addition to sharing organisational and academic administrative responsibilities, the appointee will also be expected to work closely with clinical colleagues in Local Health Boards to support students during clinical learning experiences.
