Summary


We are looking for motivated and versatile team player to join our therapy team within the Older People’s Services (OPS).

The Royal London Hospital Therapies Team delivers care to patients across a range of diverse areas. Our OPS wards are a vibrant and enthusiastic environment, geared towards rehabilitating and discharging the frailest of our population.

As a major trauma centre, OPS also has a Trauma & Peri-Operative Service (TPOPS) where we treat elderly complex trauma patients.
We are looking for someone who has highly specialist skills in Care of the Elderly and Frailty within an acute hospital settling. The successful applicant will have close working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team and links with the Acute Assessment Unit and relevant therapy team as well as with the Frailty Team.

As a Band 7 Occupational Therapist you will have the opportunity to develop your own supervisory and management skills through supporting and supervising junior therapists, students and/or therapy support workers. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on quality improvement and education within the acute medicine setting. The post holder will be expected to continue to foster a transdisciplinary approach to inpatient therapy practice whilst maintaining our individual professional roles and boundaries.



The post holder will provide a high standard of occupational therapy service as an autonomous practitioner and take a leading role in the advanced occupational therapy assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations. There will be the opportunity to work across not only the Older Peoples Service but also the Acute Admissions Unit which forms a common patient journey through our hospital.

They will determine clinical diagnosis and therapy treatment indicated, to be responsible for a defined caseload, working autonomously with access to advice and support from colleagues if required.

They will be dynamic in developing efficient and effective occupational therapy working processes to assist in producing a fully multi-professional team approach and to lead on the development of the team in line with team objectives. This involves undertaking a leading role in the day to day planning, co-ordination, delivery and evaluation of the service provided.
