£31,776 to £34,331 / £17.41 - £18.81 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join the IT Service within the Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure directorate based in Kirkwall, Orkney.
The postholder will be responsible for the daily management of IT systems used within the IT service. This includes proactively implementing and embedding IT service management best practices, such as the ITIL Framework, across all areas of work to ensure positive contributions throughout the IT service management lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with various systems utilised within the Council's diverse IT infrastructure. Additionally, they should have a background in IT Support and either hold a qualification at SCQF level 7 in a relevant field or possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related role.
The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme for which the employer contribution paid is currently 15% in addition to the salary paid. A flexitime scheme and generous annual leave is also available.
You may be required to provide an out of hours service for Orkney Islands Council and therefore participate in a callout rota for which appropriate overtime and standby payments will be made.
This post is subject to Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
