About Us

The RAF (Royal Air Force) Association has a clear objective: to help sustain a resilient and empowered RAF community, including serving personnel, RAF veterans and their families. Through our sector leading services, we offer friendship to the isolated and lonely, sheltered housing for those who want to remain proudly independent and childcare to serving personnel on RAF stations. We work closely with partner organisations, including other military charities, and have a strong bond with our donors and supporters, giving us the confidence to deliver for our beneficiaries when they need us.

With thousands of members across the UK and further afield, plus hundreds of dedicated employees and volunteers, we have the network and experience needed for a personal one-to-one approach. We work together to make sure no one is ever left behind.

About the Team

Our team of Casual Field Trainers are instrumental in delivering our face to face courses ‘Finding it Tough’ and also ‘Navigating Dementia’. We recognise that being part of the RAF community sometimes places a strain on everyday life and we all need a little help from time to time. Our three ‘Finding it Tough’ mental health wellbeing courses are specially tailored for each audience (veterans, families and others supporting the RAF community). Our Accredited ‘Navigating Dementia’ course includes information about dementia, sources of support, self-help, and the opportunity to talk with people in a similar situation. This course is open to serving personnel, veterans and their families and anyone else who is part of the RAF community. Courses are held on RAF stations or RAFA branches which will occasionally involve overnight stays, it is therefore vital that you are able to travel as part of the role. (A UK driving licence is an essential requirement) Currently, our Field Trainers cover around 60 face to face events per year along with additional online training events.

About You

If you’re an experienced trainer in the wellbeing or social care sector and looking for a great work/life balance then this role could be a great fit. Whilst the role is casual, we can let you know of upcoming course dates and locations well in advance. Accomplished in delivering interactive training using a range of methods and strategies, you will also have experience of delivering accredited qualification courses. We will encourage your input into amending and revising programmes to adapt to changes to keep our content fresh, appropriate and, most of all, an engaging experience.
