Summary
Applications are invited from Ministers of Religion for the post of Presbytery Chairperson to head the Europe Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG). The post is for a period of 5 years and will be based in London. The PCG has over 80 congregations and Preaching Points across Europe, with more than 7000 members (including about 2000 in the London Districts alone). The appointee will be responsible for mentoring and training junior Ministers and Catechists working under him/her. He/She will also contribute to preaching and pastoral work.
Pastoral duties include:
a) leading worship regularly and on special occasions;
b) providing religious education for children and adults by preaching and teaching
c) officiating at marriages, funerals and other religious ceremonies such as,
Baptism and Holy Communion.
d) offering counselling and welfare support to members of the congregations
e) recruiting, training and co-ordinating work with local volunteers and lay
preachers.
Applicants must be:
1. Experienced Ordained Minister of PCG.
2. Acceptable to the church and satisfy the requirements specified in the first schedule to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Constitution as found in 1 Timothy 3:2-7 (NIV)
Having served in a similar position as chairperson in another Presbytery will be an advantage, and so is the ability to speak at least one Ghanaian language in addition to English. Salary, benefits and allowances will be discussed later.
