The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join a small team at Herefordshire Council in emergency planning and business continuity. The team has a broad range of functions and the role requires someone with excellent communication skills to work with a range of people, internal and external to the organisation, to plan, prepare and respond to a range of emergencies and business continuity risks.
You will be required to assist the Emergency Planning Manager to deliver effective emergency planning arrangements and the corporate business continuity strategy.
You will require knowledge and experience of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 along with other emergency planning legislation and experience of effective collaborative multi-agency emergency planning and response or business continuity. You will be required to participate in the on-call emergency planning duty officer rota to respond to emergencies during and outside of normal office hours including weekends and bank holidays.
You will possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have good numeracy and literacy skills demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy along with proven competency in using IT.
You will need to be able to prioritise your workload to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved and have a good understanding of effective partnership working and effective performance management.
You will need the ability to work as part of a team and also work under your own initiative and demonstrate a willingness and ability to obtain and/or train for development in this post.
