What is the Role?
To reach net zero by 2030, we're looking for people who can bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to help us build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family and the community you live in for generations to come.
SSEN Transmission has a fantastic opportunity for an analyst to join the portfolio function of our Investment Appraisal and Analysis team and play a key role in delivering long term forecast projections for key strategic net zero activity in the north of Scotland. This role will play a pivotal part in the tracking of our RIIO-T2 performance and play a key role in developing the reporting structure for RIIO-T3.
RIIO stands for 'Revenue = Incentives + Innovation + Outputs' and is the framework applied by Ofgem, the industry regulator, to ensure individual network companies like SSEN Transmission provide a safe and reliable service at a fair price to consumers.
So join us on our journey to net zero. Help us power change.
The key duties & responsibilities will be:
- Contributing to SSEN Transmission's strategic thinking on the transition to net-zero by supporting the analysis of business performance against regulatory deliverables and playing a key role in delivering long term forecast projections.
- Supporting the completion of regulatory submissions and the associated interface with the regulator, which will involve extensive engagement with technical, financial and engineering specialists.
- Implementing and managing business processes to enable business-wide reporting of key regulatory metrics relating to the RIIO-T2 price control.
- Become a business focal point of contact for the Investment Appraisal and Analysis data hub.
- Leading the production of issue-specific RIIO portfolio related reports and communications (i.e. annual reports and internal project-specific commercial reporting).
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A proactive and innovative working approach and positive influencing skills with the ability to find answers within a diverse, engineering-focused organisation.
- Knowledge of the electricity industry and the challenges associated with the journey to net-zero.
- Advanced research and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and data modelling experience are essential.
- Ability to handle and analyse large quantities of data and experience in establishing, communicating and presenting well-reasoned conclusions, proposals and recommendations based upon multiple data sources to Senior Management is essential.
- Qualified to degree level in a finance/mathematical/economics discipline, or relevant experience.

By developing, building and maintaining a network for net zero, we're creating secure power for generations to come.
