The School Nursing Team forms part of the Directorate of Children's service for Windsor and Maidenhead provides a universal and targeted service for children and young people aged between 5 to 19 years. We work in partnership with children, young people and families to promote their health and wellbeing and provide a key link between health and education whilst promoting multiagency working to support their needs. School nurses are the professional lead for the Public Health Englands Healthy Child Programme for children aged between 5 to 19 years of age as part of prevention and early intervention programme. The Team consists of Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (also called School Nurses), Community Staff Nurses and School Health Screeners. You will be required to work as a member of the School Nursing Team and one of your tasks will be to play a key role in the delivery of the NHS DigitalNational Childhood Measurement Programme for reception and year 6 children, as well as undertaking hearing and vision screening for children at school entry. In this capacity, you will be expected to work independently in schools, but under the supervision and guidance of the School Nurses. In addition to this, you will be expected to provide administrative support to the School Nursing Team in the planning and organisation of screening sessions within school settings. In addition to these duties, you will need to refer to those who meet the criteria for follow up for audiology and orthoptists in accordance with local policy. You will also be expected to assist with data collection from the screening sessions and be able to input data onto our electronic systems within the School Nursing Service. Training and guidance in the use of equipment, cleaning and storage will be provided in addition to training required for data management. You will be expected to attend staff meetings and participate in supervision, the annual review process, statutory and mandatory and developmental training, as required.
