Summary


We are looking for self-motivated, committed Dietitian to provide a quality dietetic service to the Ipswich and East Suffolk population. You will be a key player within the dietetic team working within the oncology service.

You will manage a caseload of nutritionally vulnerable patients in the oncology and surgery settings across Ipswich and East Suffolk including, but not limited to the oncology and surgery wards, home visits, outpatient clinics and the hospice. You will be working closely with the technical instructors in oncology to help deliver this service.

You will have the opportunity to gain some experience of working as part of multi-disciplinary team within oncology and from working with other specialist dietitians including, but not limited to, the areas of home enteral tube feeding and head and neck cancer.

A range of skills is required for this post, including excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. The post-holder should be someone who enjoys working within a team and is eager to provide supportto others.

The Dietetic Team consists of 26 Dietitians with 8 Dietetic Support Staff providing a service to both acute and community settings with secretarial and administrative staff who support us. You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, tutorials and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.


• Lead clinical Dietitian for surgeryproviding a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals and social care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team.
• Oncology caseload of complex patients in both the acute, outpatient and community settings including home enteral tube feed
• To provide specialist input into the planning development and evaluation of dietetic services within surgery and oncology holding responsibility for defined projects.
• To provide nutritional support, education and advice to patients on the surgical wards and oncology wards as required as well as the community in respect to oncology
• Provide education and training for professional colleagues in all aspects of nutrition across East Suffolk, health and social care agencies.

We are a well- recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, and you will have an active role in supporting this programme and we currently have 2 apprentice Dietitians within the department. The trust is also committed with AHP research and has recently gained resource to support this within the trust.
