Summary
Responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of research protocols and clinical care and treatment, assists in the interpretation of data relevant to the patients/participants condition and progress within research trials. Assist in the identification of patient/participant problems and needs of the patient, their carers, senior nursing staff and other staff as appropriate. Record and report all adverse and serious adverse events/reactions to the relevant local personnel and external bodies as appropriate. Participate in the control, storage and competent administration of drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines, the Trusts Guidelines for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines, research protocols and guidance from sponsors. Demonstrate proficiency in the clinical skills required to care and treat the research patient/participant and with appropriate training develop new skills and new clinical trial treatments as required for service development. Maintain accurate documentation of care to facilitate the continuity of care for patients transferred to other areas. Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff. Maintain the patients respect, dignity and privacy and to act with kindness and courtesy to all members of the public. Be aware of essential procedures and take appropriate action in the event of cardiac arrest, fire or major incident. Ensure practice is evidence based and is in line with local policies and procedures.
