Summary
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
I’m delighted to be recruiting for a fantastic Client based in Huddersfield, HD2 for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
The ideal applicant should be apprentice trained, with good all-round skills, i.e. fitting, turning, milling and welding.
Knowledge of any of the following would be beneficial: overhead traversing gantry cranes, compressors, refrigeration plant, low pressure air blowers, gas-fired combustion equipment, forklift trucks (diesel & electric), pumps, valves and associated systems.
Electrical knowledge and experience of electro-chemical process plant would be an advantage.
Although the position is more mechanical biased, a suitably experienced electrician would be considered.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible to the Maintenance Manager.
• Working alongside other Maintenance Technicians to complete both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring resources are allocated to priority areas.
• Assisting with major breakdowns.
• Minimise Plant downtime.
• Provide a daily shift report.
• Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of plant and adjacent areas.
• Perform other reasonable duties as agreed with management
• Perform testing and inspecting of mechanical systems in accordance with industry standards
• Be resilient under pressure and be able to converse confidently with staff.
• Planned preventative maintenance
• Implement all mechanical maintenance and corrective works on the site in accordance with Maintenance Instructions, site specific procedures.
• Undertake defect surveys on electrical plant and systems and providing reports as requested by engineering management
• Assist in other areas of the company when requested by Management.
Personal Attributes:
• Hands on approach to Plant maintenance.
• Fault finding and diagnostic ability.
• Safe approach to all work tasks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Problem solving attitude.
• Knowledge/Qualifications in electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
• Multi skilled engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Able to ARC/MMA welding
• Ideally multi-skilled
• Mechanically biased
• Good understanding of pumps and ancillary equipment
• 18th Edition Preferred (but not essential)
• Willing to undertake Further Training where needed
• A flexible approach to working hours and duties is essential due to the 24hr operation of the plant/process-line
The hours of work are Hours are Monday – Thursday 8.00-16.30 and Friday 8.00 – 15.30 (Saturdays/emergency call outs as required).
• An hourly payrate of up to £18.00 will be offered based upon experience
