Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our acute neonatal and paediatric speech and language team. The post holder will join a multi-disciplinary team (including other SALTs) at Homerton Hospital to provide a high-quality SALT service to premature and term babies with feeding difficulties and their families. The postholder will advise on early communication and developmental care in line with the FiCare framework. The postholder will be involved in a new initiative providing eating, drinking and swallowing assessments and therapy to children in the small general paediatric ward within the hospital. In both settings, the post holder will work as part of a team to provide universal, targeted and specialist input to empower and support healthcare staff and families to best meet the feeding, developmental and communication needs of the babies and children.
You will:
-Work closely with other AHPs and Psychologists to deliver trauma led, evidence based therapy at Homerton Hospital.
- Provide highly specialist support and advice to less experienced therapists working with neonates and paediatric dysphagia.
- Support with delivering training to nursing and medical colleagues.
-Support parents to feel included and empowered in supporting the feeding and communication needs of their child.
-Be based on the neonatal unit and hold a neonatal caseload and will also take part in a new initiative to provide feeding assessments to the small paediatric ward at the hospital (Starlight ward)
You will have a thorough knowledge of neonatal and paediatric dysphagia in a hospital setting. Excellent interaction, initiative and problem solving skills are required.
You will be well supported via robust clinical supervision and have access to excellent CPD opportunities.
