Changes are on the horizon with changes to the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act and we are looking to appoint a Mental Health Legislation Assistant to support the Mental Health Legislation Administrators in providing an effective and efficient Mental Health Legislation service during and beyond the implementation.
You’ll be working in our Mental Health Legislation Office receiving, scrutinising and processing papers in relation to our patients admission and treatment under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
A good understanding of Mental Health Legislation is ideal, but not essential as a full induction and on-going training will be provided.
The successful candidate must be able to prioritise their workload to ensure legislative deadlines are met.
You must be a team player able to cross cover trust wide and possess excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of disciplines and external agencies.
You must be able to deal with sensitive information and situations that at times can be challenging in a calm and professional manner.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To assist in the administration of Mental Health Act / Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
• To receive and scrutinise all legal MHA paperwork, ensuring a high degree of accuracy at all times.
• To facilitate / arrange First-Tier Tribunal / Hospital Managers hearings, request/chase reports, liaise with professionals and service users, to assist with ensuring that all hearing proceedings run smoothly.
• To deal appropriately with all incoming and outgoing communication (emails, telephones, post) as required.
