Summary

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust was formed in April 2017. We run three acute sites Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals. In addition, we deliver outpatient and radiology services at Doddington Hospital, the Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely, and North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech. We deliver acute care services to a growing catchment of approximately 900,000 residents living in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and the neighbouring counties of Norfolk and Bedfordshire. Team North West Anglia is made up of approximately 7,500 members of staff and is supported by an army of 400 volunteers who dedicate some of their free time to support hospital services mainly in patient-facing roles.

This is a really exciting time for patients and staff as we work with our local health system partners across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire to deliver some key development projects that will shape the care we provide for future generations. As well as building a new hospital at Hinchingbrooke and redeveloping our sites at Peterborough and Stamford to better meet the needs of patients, we are investing in a Trust-wide electronic patient record system and harnessing digital technology within our diagnostic services to enhance the quality and speed of diagnosis and treatment.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a critical role on the Board of Directors, within our Trust and for our wider external stakeholders. The postholder is responsible for driving and sustaining improvement in all of our essential access, quality and efficiency standards, as well as role modelling excellent collective and visible leadership as part of the broader executive team and in partnership with system colleagues.

We are embarking on a journey to deliver significant strategic, cultural, and operational change at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT) and a strong, forward thinking, effective and proactive COO is key to succeeding in that vision. We undoubtedly have great challenges ahead and there is much to be done. However, we are excited about the opportunity to build on the great work currently being done to create a vibrant, consistently high performing organisation. If you are someone who is excited by this opportunity and has the necessary experience, ambition, passion and resilience to be our Chief Operating Officer and an effective member of our Unitary board, we would encourage you to apply.

The best organisations reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. Therefore, we welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups. This includes people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities, women, and individuals with disabilities who we know are underrepresented in these important leadership roles.
