Band 3 Medical Support Secretary - Cardiology 37.5 hrs per week

We are looking for a highly organised medical support secretary, with previous experience in a similar setting to undertake this role within the Cardiology Service, based at the Royal Bolton Hospital. You will work alongside Senior Medical Secretaries and carry out clinical typing and co-ordination of patient’s case notes/test results, amongst other office duties.

Candidates should be articulate, capable of undertaking a demanding workload and able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative. Candidates should possess advanced keyboard skills including word processing skills to at least RSA II or equivalent level /experience, also English Language and Maths GCSE Grade C or above. Previous secretarial experience, knowledge of and audio typing is essential.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload and be able to work with little supervision. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team and have a genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients and knowledge of the NHS are desirable.

Interviewees will be asked to complete a typing test.

• Typing of day-to-day correspondence on behalf of the medics/nurses.
• To provide the secretarial support to clinics and meetings including creating and distributing lists.
• Ensuring investigation results are available as required.
• Use relevant IT systems and databases.
• Respond to telephone queries.
