Summary
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Sonographer looking for your next opportunity in a busy and friendly department? We are looking for experienced Sonographers who are committed to providing high quality, effective patient care to join our friendly Ultrasound team at Ipswich Hospital, also covering Felixstowe Hospital and our new Community Diagnostic Centres. This post covers obstetrics, in-patients, gynaecology and general medical ultrasound over 12 ultrasound rooms using the latest GE machines.
This is an excellent opportunity to further your clinical experience in an exciting busy department which is committed to its staff and supporting their development. You will have opportunities to participate in student sonographer and registrar ultrasound mentorship and training. We also have strong educational links with Kings College London, University of Hertfordshire and University of Suffolk.
You should be registered with the HCPC or other UK recognised bodies (e.g. NMC) with a CASE Accredited Post Graduate Diploma (PgD) or Post Graduate Certificate (PgC) in Medical Ultrasound and have significant UK experience. It would be desirable to have recent NHS experience, NT experience and FMF/DQASS number
We have hours available up to full time and we are soon moving to a 7 day working pattern. Opening hours for service delivery will be Monday to Friday 8am – 8pm and Saturday – Sunday 9am to 1pm and there will be variable shifts within these hours

• Undertaking and reporting on a variety of ultrasound examinations on a rotational basis. The range of examinations includes obstetrics (nuchal translucency scan, anatomy scans and growth scans), gynaecology and general medical ultrasound.
• Providing a high quality, efficient and effective ultrasound service comprising unsupervised scanning sessions to the people of East Suffolk and North Essex.
• Working as an independent practitioner within your scope of practice, performing scans to a high diagnostic standard, prioritising workload, formulating a comprehensive, accurate report and communicating the results via the agreed method to clinicians/patients and to be accountable for your own professional actions.
• Providing specialist advice pertaining to the ultrasound service.
Contribute to the training and supervision of all staff and students within the Ultrasound Unit.
• Safely use all ultrasound equipment, being able to resolve first line problems, recording accurate details of equipment faults, reporting faults and liaising with and supervising engineers.
