Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary in the Stroke Services Department based at Ipswich Hospital on a fixed term contract until 15th July 2025. This is a busy department working closely with the Medical Teams, Nursing Team, Outpatients Department, and other hospitals.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team player to integrate with the current team and provide an efficient and effective secretarial service.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the administration needed to support the running of this busy department is completed in a timely way within target timeframes and for the management of 18 weeks and other targets within this speciality. Attention to detail is a must as are excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan.

This is a key role within the department, an apprenticeship will be considered. For internal candidates, we will also be able to offer a secondment opportunity or a developmental post.
• To manage and support allocated Consultant and team in the Team Leader’s absence.
• To ensure a high standard of secretarial and administrative service are consistently delivered by undertaking / delegating all required tasks and activities on a daily basis.
• To utilise the required technology / hospital systems including Big Hand / PAS / Evolve / Lorenzo and any other new technology or system(s) that are introduced and support other team members to do so to deliver an efficient administrative and secretarial service.
• To recommend and support the implementation of service improvements to own and team working practice to improve workflow.
• To train and develop other team members to ensure competencies are developed, sustained and updated and to deliver the required administrative and secretarial service in a changing working environment.
