Summary
**Support worker in CB23**
**Pay between £12 - £16 per hour depending on experience**
S is a 40 year old lady with a learning disability. S lives semi-independently, with support from her family, S enjoys both indoor and outdoor activities, especially dance, tennis and outdoor adventure holidays, S is very sociable and has a good sense of humour.
4-6 hours per week ideally on a Monday but there is some flexibility.
Pay between £12 - £16 per hour depending on experience.
DBS clearance is required the cost of this will be covered if not already in place.
Support S with meal planning and food management checking best before dates and freshness, understanding the use of fridge and freezer, helping with shopping lists and trips to the local shops.
Educating and supporting S to learn the value of healthy eating through planning and preparing food together, and encouraging positive habits.
Educating and promoting a healthy lifestyle to include enjoyable, achievable exercise plans.
In the future, there may be opportunities to accompany S on sport or social weekends, and occasional overnight respite.
It is important that you are friendly, patient, caring, someone who can listen as well as chat, someone who has an enthusiastic, positive outlook.
You must be willing to develop trust in the role and an understanding of S needs as a vulnerable person, her physical and intellectual limitations and how these could impact health and safety.
Be mindful of S world view and faith in order to understand her needs, priorities and outlook.
If you have experience in supporting others with a learning disability or other special needs, that would be most welcome. Knowledge and experience in the areas of food, nutrition, exercise, healthy eating and healthy living would also be valuable.
