The Opportunity
This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering. The school has a well-established reputation for the innovative delivery of education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our freshly accredited MPharm programme forms the core of undergraduate activity.

The School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering hosts an internationally recognised translational research facility with a strong international REF2021 profile bringing together molecular biology, stem cell biology, tissue engineering, physicists, chemists, engineers, mathematicians, rehabilitation science and NHS clinicians. Its aim is to improve the health of patients by applying knowledge gained from basic science to develop insights into the causes of disease and novel therapies for treatment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of basic organic and medicinal chemistry (including chirality, mechanisms, and functional group chemistry) teaching to undergraduate MPharm and BSc students in the context of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry. You will also be responsible for developing your own research within a field of chemistry relevant to anticancer drug design and potentially glycoscience under the guidance of the School of Pharmacy and Bioengineering Research Director and in collaboration with local Principal Investigators.

You will have a PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification and experience of teaching in a university. You must also have an established track record of research with publications in high quality journals.
