Summary
• The post holder will work with the network multidisciplinary team to
provide expert clinical care and management for people with inherited .
bleeding disorders, and their families and carers.
• They will ensure care is given that recognises not only individual medical needs but also their social and developmental needs.
• The post holder will be expected to play an active role in continuing to develop safe and effective network services, and to assist in designing patient pathways to ensure optimal care in the best environment.
• Along with the rest of the clinical team, they will be responsible for ensuring the national peer review standards for haemophilia are met and maintained.
• The nurse will support the consultants and lead nurse in providing ad-hoc and planned patient reviews as well as nurse led clinic reviews.
• Participating in the weekly MDT meeting will also be an essential task.
• They will support protocol and patient information development, develop nursing documents to support the care and management of patients; develop and maintain databases as well as support data entry to the national haemophilia database.
• In addition, the Clinical Nurse Specialist(CNS) will work closely patients attending day care, special dentistry or admitted to hospital and co-ordinate the smooth and appropriately timed transition from paediatric to adult services.
