Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Registered Nurse to join the District Nursing Service covering East Dorset; 22.5 hours per week, the hours available are within our Ferndown DN Team.

The role of the Community Staff Nurse has changed over the years and we are now looking after complex patients in their home environments. The skills required for Community Nursing included complex wound management, palliative care and end of life care, medicines management, IV drug administration as well as having a high standard of holistic assessment and care planning skills.

Training is available within the Trust for the successful applicant.

The team work closely with members of the wider multi-disciplinary teams including local Hospices, Complex Care Nurses, Health and Social Care Coordinators, Specialist Nurses and Therapist colleagues. The team is also supported by Intermediate Care Service and utilises our community hospitals for patients’ rehabilitation.

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.



Care of patients at home, requiring nursing care to include diabetes management, complex wound care (including compression bandaging & dopplers), IV management, end of life care, injections and pressure area care to mention a few!

To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.

To undertake assessment of patients / service users care needs, and develop programmes of care as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.

To provide advice to patients/ service users and carers regarding their care.

To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.

Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students and junior staff in the team.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
