Summary
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Indian Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of traditional and modern Indian cuisine, including regional specialties, and will demonstrate creativity and expertise in developing authentic dishes. The Indian Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, creating new dishes, managing the kitchen team, and ensuring that all food prepared meets our quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Menu Development:
- Develop, design, and create authentic Indian menus that include a variety of dishes from different regions of India (such as Punjabi, South Indian, Bengali, and Gujarati).
- Innovate and introduce new dishes, seasonal specials, and fusion recipes to keep the menu fresh and appealing.
- Collaborate with management to align menu offerings with customer preferences and financial objectives.
2. Food Preparation:
- Prepare, cook, and present Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, side dishes, breads, and desserts, to the highest quality standards.
- Ensure proper use of traditional Indian cooking methods, techniques, and spices to maintain authenticity.
- Manage preparation of ingredients, including marinating, grinding spices, and making pastes, sauces, and gravies from scratch.
3. Kitchen Management:
- Supervise, train, and lead kitchen staff, including sous chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, to ensure efficient operations.
- Schedule shifts and assign tasks to kitchen staff to maintain smooth kitchen operations.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness, hygiene, and organization according to health and safety regulations.
4. Inventory and Cost Control:
- Oversee the ordering, storage, and inventory of Indian spices, herbs, and other ingredients.
- Monitor food costs, waste, and portion control to ensure profitability.
- Establish relationships with local suppliers to source fresh and high-quality ingredients.
5. Food Safety and Hygiene:
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to in compliance with local regulations.
- Implement and maintain a strict cleaning schedule for the kitchen and all equipment.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure food is stored, handled, and prepared safely.
6. Customer Experience:
- Ensure consistent presentation and taste of all dishes to meet customer expectations.
- Interact with customers when necessary to gather feedback and address any concerns.
- Contribute to the overall dining experience by ensuring food is delivered promptly and consistently.
7. Quality Control:
- Continuously evaluate and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion size.
- Implement quality improvement measures when necessary.
Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Indian cuisine, including different regional dishes, spices, and cooking techniques.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of food cost management, inventory control, and portion management.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Creativity and passion for culinary arts, especially Indian cuisine.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
