Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a qualified or experienced part qualified, highly motivated professional to the post of Finance Business Partner for the newly established ONE (Owl North East) Trust. We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled candidate to join our central team. This is an exciting new post for our recently formed multi-academy trust and we hope that this role will appeal to current or aspiring finance business partners who are looking to join a new team with the ambition of making a positive contribution to the financial sustainability and future of our schools.

The role will begin on 6th January 2025 (dependent on the candidate’s period of notice).

The successful candidate will have:

• the ability to coach budget holders to interpret and translate financial information into objectives aligned to the strategic plan
• the skills to act as a ‘critical friend’ by providing robust check and challenge using technical knowledge
• the knowledge to drive financial and commercial efficiencies whilst ensuring suitable allocation of resources
• hold an accountancy qualification (e.g, CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA, ACA - part or fully qualified)
• experience of producing monthly accounts, forecasts and budgets including creation of all required journals (prepayments, accruals, PAYE/NI, etc.)
• experience of preparing and reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations to support underlying accounting information
• Accounting and forecasting software/Excel user experience to navigate management accounts.
• Advanced Excel knowledge and proficient Microsoft Office user.
• IRIS Accounting / Financial Planner experience preferred but not essential
• A resilient attitude, with a strong work ethic in what can be a changing environment
• Experience of working in a small Finance team with a flexible workstyle, a “can do” work ethic and strong collaborative ethos
• Excellent networking and stakeholder relationship building skills.
