Pilrig Park School is looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher of Additional Support Needs. Applications are invited from Secondary teachers of any subject area or Primary teachers. The successful candidate will have a passion, desire and commitment to working with young people with additional support needs. They would be responsible for teaching all curricular areas across the BGE as well as SQA National Qualifications at Nat 1/2/3 levels as appropriate. We would also be looking for our new teacher to participate in and deliver courses and awards as part of our wider curriculum. At Pilrig Park School we aim to provide opportunities for all pupils to achieve in a nurturing environment. The school works effectively with partners and the community to ensure that every pupil has flexible pathways to develop skills, knowledge and understanding now and in the future for learning, life and work.
Pilrig Park School is a non-denominational special school situated in the Leith area of Edinburgh. The school provides education for secondary-aged learners with complex long-term additional support needs. A key strength of the school is our multi-agency approach to supporting our learners, and school staff work closely with Educational Psychologists, the Additional Support for Learning Service, the CAMHS Learning Disability Team, Allied Health Professionals and third-sector partners in order to meet the needs of all learners. We pride ourselves on our positive and inclusive ethos and are committed to enabling learners to be the best they can be, by raising attainment and promoting achievement. This vision is shared with our families and community and very much part of our everyday practice.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
