Summary


The Governance Lead with the Head of Nursing and Quality will develop and implement quality governance processes within the Directorate to ensure that there is a comprehensive framework to monitor and improve the quality of care. They will be a member of the Directorate Senior Management Team.

The post holder will take a facilitative and empowering approach, nurturing creativity and leading others to be open to doing things differently if the desired outcomes improve the patient, carer and staff experience. They will work under the direction of the Head of Nursing and Quality in conjunction with general managers, service managers, matrons, governance lead and officers to ensure that quality data is triangulated and validated. The post holder will work with others to maximise digital solutions where possible.

They will ensure the maintenance of excellent standards of patient and staff safety, promoting a positive culture in which reporting of incidents and root cause analysis is routine practice and is recognised by staff as a means of improving the quality of clinical care and reducing risks.

They will support the Head of Nursing and Quality to ensure that quality forms an integral part of the operational and strategic aims of the Directorate.

The Governance Lead is a member of the Acute Directorate's Senior Management Team and is responsible for supporting the Head of Nursing and Quality in ensuring that there is a comprehensive framework in place to monitor and improve the quality of patient care.

They will be visible weekly within services and work collaboratively with service users, carers and staff in the development of a framework and the continual drive to improve quality of care for those that they serve.

The post holder will line manage the Governance Project Officer and work closely with matrons. They will lead in ensuring that there are effective mechanisms for lessons learned to be embedded. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring appropriate mechanisms exist to alert the operational senior management team to any gaps in quality that may arise so that a timely response can be made.

They will provide education and training for staff within the Directorate on aspects of quality and processes for managing the dimensions of quality (risk management, health and safety, clinical governance, complaints management, quality improvement).

They will ensure that lessons from internal and external incidents, claims, complaints and inquest verdicts analyses are learned and shared and that timely feedback of information occurs including embedding learning across the Directorate.

They will lead the Directorate in gathering evidence of compliance with CQC key lines of enquiry.
