We have an exciting new opportunity for a Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing Cyber Security team in Liverpool. Progression and development is important to our employees and we’re pleased that due to the evolving Cyber Security Landscape, there is a clear pathway for this role to develop from an Analyst to a Cyber Security Manager, for the right candidate.

In the role, you’ll be working closely with the Cyber Security Manager to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and perform in-depth analysis, while continuously improving our security posture. Cyber security within LSTM is an evolving landscape, and we anticipate that for the right candidate, this role could evolve into a Cyber Security Manager position.

You will be joining a fast paced, dynamic environment, so we’ll need you to demonstrate previous experience in Security Operation Centre (SOC) activities. You will need to be comfortable managing and prioritising your own workload and use your analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex cyber security or IT security issues.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Identify and manage incidents in security toolsets, manage, respond and escalate when required
Leverage SIEM solutions to monitor and respond to incidents
Applying threat intelligence to improve detection and anticipate potential attacks
Producing
punctual detailed reports based on incidents - including detailed timelines and actions taken
Act as a point of escalation to Service Desk Analysts and support them in identifying, troubleshooting and resolving issues
Act as a technical security Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the IT Team
Maintain security policies and procedures to align with school requirements
Apply threat intelligence to improve detection and anticipate potential attacks

What will you need to demonstrate:

Education to degree level or have equivalent work experience
Demonstrable experience in Security Operation Centre (SOC) activities
Knowledge of information security principles, including risk assessment, intrusion detection / prevention, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, threat, and vulnerability management
An understanding of Information Security control standards and frameworks e.g. ISO27001, NIST, NCSC CAF
Technical proficiency with security-related systems and applications, Firewalls, M365 Apps for Enterprise/e-mail security, SIEM, anti-malware tools, vulnerability assessment systems, network anomaly detection and intrusion prevention.
