Summary
A well-regarded secondary school in Newport is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their Learning Development Centre on a full-time basis. This position is available from September 2024 through to the end of the academic year in July 2025. This role presents a valuable opportunity for individuals with a strong understanding of additional learning needs and a compassionate, patient approach.
Role:
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 08:10 am - 15:10 pm.
- Responsibilities: Supporting students aged 11-16 with special educational needs.
- Duties: Working closely with secondary school pupils on a primary curriculum, providing one-to-one intervention, and assisting small groups with core subjects such as Literacy and Numeracy, as well as life skills.
- Special Needs Focus: Autism (verbal and non-verbal), ADHD, Global Development Delay, Dyspraxia.
You:
- Qualities: Patient, caring, and resilient with a firm approach.
- Experience: Prior experience working with special needs in a personal or professional capacity is desirable.
- Skills: Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and create a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Commitment: Must be able to commit to a full-time, term-time only role.
