I am looking for Personal Assistant for my daughter, a 47-year-old woman with bi-polar, epilepsy and mild learning difficulties. 10 hours a week to be worked flexibly, days, evenings, or weekends to be agreed with you.

My daughter is a vibrant, energetic, outgoing lady, who seeks someone of similar interests. She enjoys theatre, art galleries, eating out, swimming, walking, and socialising.
Driver, use of personal car (not essential)

Pointers to help understand
As her PA you need to tune into her needs, she’s not assertive enough to say no. She’ll try to please all the time, does not want to offend, she can be very easily swayed. Because of her bi-polar, sometimes tiring here out has the opposite effect; instead of being able to relax and go to sleep she’ll go high and agitated.
You will need to tailor activities to keep her calm and avoid getting ‘too high’.
If she gets high and confused, she’ll approach strangers and ask inappropriate questions and put herself in a vulnerable position. She tends to start multiple tasks and not finish any of them.
Main Duties
Encourage her to be independent in her own home, help prepare meals, light domestic duties. Accompany to different groups organised by Hafal, Mind etc. Someone to go to the theatre, cinema, out for meals with.
When out and about help with safely crossing the road, catching buses, trains. Help her prioritise tasks to make sure she has phone, keys, purse. Be a practically minded person.
You will be required to fill in a timesheet for hours worked and provide receipts for any expenses being claimed.

Successful applicant needs-
To be compassionate and caring nature with plenty of patience.
To be able to use initiative when needed.
Interpret daily state of health and take appropriate action eg rest or activity.

Essential
Experience of working with people who suffer with mental health.
A sound understanding of Bi-polar, and learning difficulties.

Desirable
Qualification in health care/social care or is training to be a social worker or specialise in mental health.
