Summary

Join us as a Vice President in Financial Analysis

  • Sitting within our Specialist Portfolio Management (SPM) team, you’ll make a far-reaching impact across the bank as our financial analysis expert and have the opportunity to actively participate in lending decisions for the wholesale corporate book
  • We’re looking for someone who’ll undertake credit and financial analysis in line with the current risk appetite, process, and procedures

What you’ll do

Your daily duties will include focussing on our customers’ needs through the risk assessment process and you’ll also work collaboratively with key stakeholders across Corporate & Institutions (C&I) and Risk.

We’ll look to you to implement relevant processes to identify emerging problem cases as fast as possible to deliver effective risk management. Not only will you be a subject matter expert for our portfolio management teams, but you’ll support plans regarding clients and the shape of transactions.

You’ll also be:

  • Making sure the first line of defence remains within our lending appetite and policy, following our risk and control frameworks
  • Undertaking analysis of financial and non-financial information with a view to providing a recommendation to business and credit approvers
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues
  • Maintaining cost discipline and identifying ways to improve our credit approval process while maintaining key stakeholder relationships
  • Meeting data quality obligations and making sure that reporting and capital are accurate and efficient

The skills you’ll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have a formal banking qualification or equivalent in professional experience and an accreditation or commitment to obtain one within 12 months, alongside continuous professional development.

You’ll have strong analytical and technical credit skills, good commercial awareness, and an understanding of how to shape complex deals to create a fair customer outcome, while protecting our bank’s position.

You’ll also need:

  • Sound knowledge of the corporate and commercial segment, sectors, and lending products
  • An understanding of credit, economic, legal, and regulatory policies, and how they are applied to specialist sector issues in line with underwriting processes and systems
  • To be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Great organisation skills to help plan your workload and make sure that productivity and delivery are maintained to agreed service standards
  • The ability to develop a good network across the bank and to collaborate and work effectively with clients and stakeholders
