Summary


The successful applicant will join a dedicated team working to ensure that patient care is improved via implementation of various digital solutions.

The primary focus of this role is the design, development, and technical integration of clinical systems, including but not limited to Rhapsody, Christie Clinical Web Portal. This position involves working with associated applications, databases, and reports to streamline the processing and distribution of information using a wide range of software tools.

This role also incorporates the need to provide support to users on various applications, training and demonstration of systems and the need to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical staff.

• Integration Development: Develop and support the Trust's integration links using standards like HL7, FHIR, and SOAP, utilising the Mirth Integration Engine to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
• System monitoring and review of interface configuration and performance to ensure optimisation
• Application Development: Support the development of bespoke applications using technologies such as SQL, ASP.NET, .NET Core, React and React Native.
• Database Management: Use SQL, complex stored procedures, views, and triggers to access data in data warehouses. Design and develop corporate and clinical databases utilising SQL Server or similar database management software

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Integration Development: Develop and support the Trust's integration links using standards like HL7, FHIR, and SOAP, utilising the Mirth Integration Engine to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
2. System monitoring and review of interface configuration and performance to ensure optimisation
3. Application Development: Support the development of bespoke applications using technologies such as SQL, ASP.NET, .NET Core, React and React Native.
4. Database Management: Use SQL, complex stored procedures, views, and triggers to access data in data warehouses. Design and develop corporate and clinical databases utilising SQL Server or similar database management software.
5. Development and support of the Trust’s integration links using a wide range of standards such as HL7, FHIR, utilising the Rhapsody Integration Engine.
6. Analysis and interpretation of user requirements into technical requirements with associated documentation.
7. Produce updated documentation on technical solution proposals, requirements, functional specifications and change requests.
8. Work with the Software Development team to ensure consistency of data capture.
9. Support the application development team’s servers including the deployment of new software, troubleshooting and correcting errors as well as planned maintenance.
10. Maintain an awareness of the latest software tools, keeping up to date with technological sources and innovations.
11. Support and facilitate the transition from legacy systems to new systems. This includes working closely with various Trust teams to maintain system stability and addressing technical debt to ensure a seamless and reliable transition.
12. Participate when required in the planning meetings and user groups for services both internal and external to the organisation.
13. Work closely with / participate in the strategic planning and development of information technology services within the Trust to deliver local IT requirements.
14. Play a role in the planning and delivery of systems and application development that will have impact right across the Trust that will set its future direction.
15. Contribute to the definition of systems and application architecture for the development of a common framework to support various applications throughout the Trust. This will include: new Integrations and bespoke applications
16. Contribute towards defining Service Level Agreements and maintenance procedures for the in-house development of applications.
17. Contribute to the development and implementation of the information technology components of the Trust’s Infrastructure Strategy.
18. Contribute to the development of training material and user guides and the delivery of such materials to end users.
19. Assist the project / programme managers, clinical staff and Head of Software Development in developing delivery timeframes by identifying key development activities, and technical dependencies and risks.
20. In conjunction with the project managers, to ensure processes are in place to track progress, change control, benefits realisation and risks in relation to projects and programmes of work.
