Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive team at our Acute Renal Unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Are you an enthusiastic RN looking to specialise, have excellent communication skills and want to make a difference to your patients? If so , come and join us!
Due to expanding our workforce we have current vacancies .
The Shrewsbury unit has 22 dialysis stations. We also provide inpatient dialysis on the renal ward.
Previous experience is not essential as we have an excellent teaching and competency package & full training will be given.
As a dialysis nurse you will care for patients in Chronic Kidney Failure who attend the out patient unit for dialysis 3 times a week. You will also care for patients with acute kidney injury and inpatients requiring dialysis on the Renal Ward.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of
individualised patient care. Working in partnership with patients and their carers to ensure the patients training needs are met ensuring their safety to dialyse at home.
• To ensure the patient’s physical, spiritual and emotional needs are met.
• Formulate and deliver high quality dialysis therapy. Assessment of patients without direct supervision, seeking guidance on actions that are outside agreed defined standards.
• Recognise changes in patients’ conditions which require the intervention of others and ensure that timely referrals are made or escalation procedures enacted as appropriate
On the Dialysis unit we care for patients undergoing Haemodialysis and focus on holistic care, we also promote self-care, which enables and empowers our patients. Our aim is to provide a high quality standard of individualised care and treatment to patients with established renal failure
within a safe and supportive environment by friendly, competently trained staff.
We care for our patients with Chronic Kidney failure on the outpatient unit and we dialysis our inpatients on the renal ward. You will be supernumerary whilst completing your competency pack and allocated to staff mentors to work with. As a Staff Nurse on the Dialysis unit you will be responsible for your own caseload of patients, this will be on completion of your competency documents, you will complete a monthly review of all your patients on our renal database.
